8th Grade Celebration!

The seventh grade students put on a killer 8th grade celebration!  The room looked amazing, and many families brought in desserts for the dessert bar.  If you missed the action, don't worry.  Videos from the ceremony are below, as well as, the end of the year slideshow!

Sinuosity Visit

Last week Sinuosity (the company who is working with Renaissance of the Trail Stewardship Project) came and visited with Renaissance.  We celebrated all that we have accomplished this school year.  Sinuosity showed us how they used the data we collected to create "prescriptions" for different trail areas.  Some trails may be designed to be less steep, portions of other trails may be closed, and some trails may need minor maintenance.  We have learned so much from Brook and Mariah, and can't wait to continue this work next school year.

Carnival!

This past Tuesday, the seventh graders hosted the Renaissance Carnival for the Traveler team.  Due to weather, the carnival was held indoors.  Students felt it was important to form a bond with the kids and wanted to provide a fun party for them. They wanted to have a leadership role so that the younger students would trust them. Renaissance kids were very creative, and hosted an awesome Carnival! Mr. Edwards said, "This was the best carnival ever!"

Renaissance sends best wishes to Mrs. McCarthy!

Students signed the book "The Dot" for Mrs. McCarthy.  The book was presented to her during the retirement party last night.  Thank you Mrs. McCarthy for supporting all of the Renaissance kids.

Renaissance is Growing!

Our family is expanding!  Every afternoon at 1:45, we had the opportunity to do some team building with our newest students.  Students were faced with challenging tasks in groups.  They had to work together to build a shelter that fit all members of their group.  They could only use newspaper and masking tape to create a free standing shelter.  Students found this task to be difficult and really had to communicate and collaborate around many ideas to make a viable structure.  Early in the week, students built marble runs in attempt to have their marble travel down the ramp at the slowest speed, without ever touching the marble.  Students liked this challenge, and enjoyed designing different paths for their marble.  "It was like a homemade pinball machine" said Haley.

Leadership from BFA

Today BFA leadership class visited Renaissance to inspire us and get us ready for high school.  They tried to instill the importance of organization and academic success.  We appreciated the high school students kind words of wisdom.

Pizza Garden

A handful of Renaissance students worked with Mrs. Smith to plant our 2014 Garden!  They planted a pizza garden and included cucumbers for a snack.  Great job!
